So after being stuck babysitting my little sister I decided to watch a family movie. I didn’t want a Disney family movie because with Disney, even Pixar is guilty, you can expect a happy ending from them. So I saw this on sale at a Wal-Mart, bought it, and loved it.
Babe, a pig raised by sheepdogs, learns to herd sheep with a little help from Farmer Hoggett. Now I don’t care about who point of view the story is being told as long as it good. I never got why people hate it when animals talked in a movie, yet I never hear anyone complain about that in Finding Nemo, The Lion King, and even Tarzan. So back on track, the story is more entertaining than I expected it to be. There’s allot of good lesson to be learned in this movie and it’s nice to see a good live action family movie unlike nowadays where nearly all the good ones are all animated.
Before I loose focus again, I have to say the flow of the movie works for it. I found the humor top notch, it atmosphere moving, and it has allot of heart in it. Now what makes Babe stand out from most current family movies is that it’s not animated. I honestly can’t remember the last time (besides A Christmas Story) I enjoyed watching a family movie that wasn’t animated. This movie has something for both young viewers and has something for older viewers.
Babe is a hidden family movie gem lost under the animated many family animated movies. This excellent movie is at the level of Pixar movies in greatness, I highly recommend this for anyone of any age.
